WEBA New Churches Fund

We describe WEBA’s purpose as Growing Healthy Churches and Encouraging Missionary Disciples.

To maintain our current numbers of around 120 churches, we will need to grow by at least one new church every year for the next ten years.

Our New Churches Fund is intended to facilitate this goal.

We’ve helped it happen in Wichelstowe, south of Swindon, where the Boulton family have helped create community – and a new Christian community, The Stowe – at the heart of a new housing development. This was our focus for 2009, and WEBA churches gave generously to meet the £10,000 target we set that year.

Alison Boulton helped organise a popular Community Nativity for Wichelstowe in 2009. Since then she's been asked by residents to host Sunday gatherings.

Our focus for 2010 is a new group in Portishead, near Bristol. Click below to hear Ministerial Student Elveen Mead talking about this project:

We asked each church to give £200 towards this work in 2009 (£75 for smaller churches). We would like to ask you to consider doing the same again in 2010. This money will continue to support the work in Wichelstowe, in addition to helping launch the new group in Portishead, and other projects which will subsequently come on line.

“We believe most Christians today are hungry to make a difference in the name of Jesus Christ”
says Senior Regional Minister Nigel Coles, “but are frustrated about the impact churches are making beyond the church.”

The generosity shown by churches since we began this project demonstrates this desire that God’s Kingdom should be expressed where there is the opportunity. Thank you for helping us, by your gifts and by your prayers, to facilitate those who are stepping out and making a difference in our region now.

Cheques should be sent to the WEBA office, made payable to WEBA, with 'New Churches Fund' on the back.

You can also set up a standing order to give to the fund as an individual; please click here to download a form which should be returned to the WEBA office.
