This year WEBA launches its New Churches Fund.
The fund will provide WEBA churches with an annual focus for prayer and giving, in the same way that 'Focus for Growth' was used in the past.
Now, that focus will be a brand new project within the region.
In 2009 we will focus on Wichelstowe, a new housing development just south of Swindon.
WEBA is working in partnership with Alison Boulton and her family as together we explore how we might we best build God's kingdom in this new developing community. With some support from WEBA, the Boultons are in the process of moving to Wichelstowe, with the intention of exploring ways in which they can serve Christ within that community.
This is a step of faith, an adventure, because what will grow as a result will be determined not by tradition or a pre-determined plan but by the needs of the community itself as relationships develop. We believe passionately in incarnational mission says Ali, which is basically mirroring what God did in sending Jesus - the Word became flesh and dwelt among us - it 's about being where people are and meeting people where they are at.
In this video clip, Ali talks to Regional Minister Alisdair Longwill about the beginning of this adventure.
To give to the Wichelstowe Project via the WEBA New Churches Fund, please send cheques, made out to WEBA and marked 'New Churches Fund' to the WEBA Office.
