Discipleship

Introduction

“Discipleship – frankly, it’s the best word we’re given in the Bible, which most usefully describes the intention of somebody to live for the glory and worship of God. It’s a word which gets us into the heart of our relationship with God”  Christian DNA groups, Nigel Coles

We cannot grow healthy churches without encouraging and supporting missionary disciples. Alongside your local church, and your cluster, we hope to provide resources that will help you on your journey of discipleship.

Seventy-Two

The gospel writer, Luke, tells us of a time when Jesus sent 72 disciples, two by two, to nearby towns and villages with the good news that God’s kingdom is near. Alongside our Regional Partners we have been developing Seventy-two as an umbrella term for initiatives to help people ‘find their way in the mission of God’. Forge Training

Forge is led by active missional practitioners who host this one year course in our region to enable ordinary people to become missional in whatever context they work, minister and live. Participants meet together for three weekends during the year as well as peer group and one to one coaching. This is a wonderful opportunity for those on the course to explore and develop missional understanding and application for the place and life which God has called them to. Our next course begins in February 2017. “You don’t need a lot of equipment. You are the equipment.”

Get together with 2 friends, find somewhere to meet, and work through Nigel Coles’ Christian DNA Groups – a workbook for the first year.

“If you meet for an hour each week you’ll quickly discover you have time to ask yourself some searching questions, which will potentially impact your life and the lives of those around you. Essentially, we’ll be trying to embody both the great commandment and commission and I’m simply using the term ‘missional DNA’ to focus attention on this.”
