WEBA is developing a partnership with a small group of churches from the Baptist Union of Albania.
In 2018, for the fourth year running, a group from WEBA churches will collect and help deliver shoeboxes full of Christmas presents. This is something the Albanian Baptist Union has suggested as one way we can help them reach out to the communities they are in contact with. We are putting the tools of compassion into the hands of local churches.
Watch this video about WEBox in 2015:
The WEBox Appeal has been very popular with WEBA churches and other groups they have contact with, such as schools, playgroups, and other community groups. Churches can get involved by collecting flatpack boxes and making sure they are filled and labelled appropriately.
Just as important are the food parcels the team helps distribute to families each Christmas. A £15 gift will pay for one food parcel – please send cheques payable to WEBA or donate online here using mydonate.
To simplify transporting the boxes, we will only accept gifts in the flat pack boxes provided by WEBA. These come with a pre-printed label and can be decorated with wrapping paper etc.
If you would like to act as a WEBox co-ordinator for your church in 2018, please contact email@example.com and we’ll put you on the list.
If your church can help us with storage of the flat pack boxes , please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0117 965 8828.
We also have lots of leaflets with all the information you need to get started – contact us if you would like a batch of these posting to your church.
Use the word WEBOX to help you shop!
W – something to Wash with – soap, flannel, toothbrush, toothpaste
E – something Educational – pens, pencils, notepad, colouring crayons, calculator.
B – a Bar of chocolate or a bag of sweets (best before date after Jan 2019)
O – Something to put On. Hat, scarf, gloves, socks, sunglasses, jewellery.
X – Something eXciting – any other games or toys that a child would like to receive.
So that all the children receiving gifts go away equally happy…
PLEASE give only brand new items.
PLEASE make the box look as full as you can.
If filling a whole box with new items seems expensive, try sharing with a friend, or suggest that your church gets together to pool gifts and fill a number of boxes together.
We ask for a contribution of at least £2 to cover the transport costs of each box. If you are collecting with a church, please give this to your WEBox Co-ordinator or treasurer, together with the gift aid form on the WEBox leaflet if you are a UK taxpayer. If you are collecting with a school or other group, the person who gave out the boxes will let you know how to do this.
Anyone can also donate online, either towards transporting the boxes, or towards food parcels:
All boxes should be delivered to Cairns Road Baptist Church by the the 25th November 2018. Information about regional collection points will be added on this page nearer the time
The shoeboxes will leave England at the beginning of December . A team of volunteers will help our partner churches in Albania to distribute the shoeboxes to families they have contact with. Please contact the WEBA office for more information about joining the team.
You can make a difference to a child’s life…pack a box with love and send a message to the children of Albania.
£15 will provide a food parcel for one family. You can give a donation using the WEBox mydonate page – click here to donate now.
